  1. If they live in moist dense vegetation spring and summer how are they able to live indoors on dry materials? How long do larva live? Or if they drop off and become adult if indoors. An article says they won’t reproduce in dry environments yet it’s common suggestions to steam, wash, dehumidify, smother, add sunlight, and or bleach to our indoor materials and clothing. I apparently (first month of Autumn) wore some jeans for a short time not realizing I was anywhere near an area of infestation, laid them on the bed when I had to unexpectantly leave for a week. I donned the same pair to work in the yard upon my return. Along with socks, long sleeve shirt, and boots and gloves. Sprayed head to toe with OFF. And have been a smorgasbord for these things. Another article says that the insecticides don’t kill them just deters them. Diatomaceous Earth seems to be promising indoors (which no one mentions) but although it’s among the list of substances to be used outside, it is of no use once it gets moist or wet. So now I’m confused. I’ll be using Diatomaceous Earth indoors. (And yes, I showered immediately and I’ve washed all clothing twice and dried for 40 min.) But outdoors ….

  2. Most rocks I have studied as a geologist have been sedentary. Diatomaceous earth is a ‘sedimentary’ rock.

  3. You can put your clothing in the freezer overnight and that will kill the chiggers on them.

Also you can diffuse natural camphor in a tea light diffuser for 4 hours or more and that will kill any in your home.

  4. I thank I have them and I’m in pain and can’t sleep and I have done all this and it haven’t worked I’m dying not really but yeah you get it!!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😕😕😒😒

  5. I have them and I’m in pain I am dying not really but you get it!!! None of this has worked I’m iching so much I’m making myself bleed it’s on my back my armpits and all on my neck and I’m in pain don’t get theses they suck but this stuff is not working!!!😭😭😕😕😒😒

    • I used lamp oil. Put on cloth and wiped down entire body, waited about 5 minutes and showered. Worked. That was about 10 years ago. We were spending the summer in a campground at that time. We sprinkled 7 dust on the ground of the camp site. Have them again. Will be using lamp oil again this time.

    • You should go to the doctor, they might be getting infected since you are scratching so much. The doctor will be able to give you a medicine that will work much better, maybe steroids along with something else.

    • Camphopheniqe

  6. Put clear nail.polish on the bites it works

  7. Ouchy, Mackenzie! I have been dealing with chiggers for decades, in fact I have three bites right now.
I always use four things to ease the pain and itching, and even kill them it seems. First I rub 90%
isopropyl alcohol all over the itchy places, two or three times in a couple of minutes. Ahhh, helps some right away. The strong alcohol works best but even the 50% type does help.
Then I use two creams from dollar tree( you can certainly find the creams elsewhere).
Anti-itch cream containing 2% Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride and 0.1% Zinc Acetate is the one I apply to each bite first. Next I apply 1% Hydrocortisone cream. I do not leave so much that the areas are white after I rub the creams in well. Wait until the creams seem dry and then apply a couple coats of clear fingernail polish to each bite, about the size of a dime. Let the polish dry and
it will help to kill the chiggers, as I have always been told(even by Pharmacists)this suffocates the
    chiggers.
I know from many(over fifty) years of experience, that this process takes care of any chigger bites you may have.
    Have a safe Summer,
    Carl
